Bahamas wrap up

It has been one wild week. I don’t think I have ever been so glad to be home. The last 2 shows went well but not before there were some real surprises.
Friday’s show went well and after getting it started I moved on to the sound check for Sat. night’s show. And this is rare but I really enjoyed sound check. Eddie Vedder is an amazing performer and I got to see a long time friend work her lighting magic. Standing there watching and listened I realized it is those moments that make it all worth it. EV played ARC which is unusual because it is difficult to get the Pearl Jam audience to stay quiet. I don't have the video but this one from San Diego is pretty good.Sat. we actually played tourist for a little while and walked through the aquariums. They have some amazing sea life there. Check out the photos here.
There were a few more things to finish before Sat. night’s event. And it is good thing that we were there early. It started with one of the generators shutting off before we even got on site. The generator tech came out and looked it over. Turns out that they let the fuel run a little low and the fuel filter got dirty. No big deal. They change the fuel filter and get the generator back on. From there it just went down hill. Right before doors the generator tech asks to do a load test. A little late but I say OK. A few minutes later he says we need to shut down lighting so that he can tighten 2 lugs on the generator. Now I am getting a little nervous. It is an outdoor event and it is still daylight but it will be dark soon. They finish quickly. Generator back on. Lights on. We go eat. About 30 minutes later the generator shut off and they wanted to do the same fix by switching the fuel filter. Fortunately we had a back up generator and my production electrician made the call to switch over to it. Unfortunately they provided a lower amperage generator and didn’t tell us until then. I did the math and figured out what we would have to cut. Stage system was almost all good but all the “environmental” lighting will have to be used very sparingly. During the switch we discover a piece of 4/0 with a bad cam lock. Another few minute delay. It is now sunset so in a few minutes more minutes it would have been a real problem. But all ends well. We got the generator back on and none of the audience ever knew anything happened. Eddie Vedder played an amazing show and the audience loved it.
The trip home was long but uneventful. It sure felt good to sleep in my own bed.
