Wolverine-the real story.

Since X-Men Origins:Wolverine came out many people have asked me about it. There has been a lot of comparison to the Star Trek movie. I understand why. They were both based on an existing franchise and both released within a week. As most people know I am a big fan of the comic Wolverine. Because I have been a fan of the comic for over 25 years I was happy to see Wolverine's story on screen in any form. When I saw the movie I really enjoyed it. I overlooked the flaws and relished in the fights. I know the story of Wolverine and I know what they left out. Now that I have had time for it to sink in and hear some of the criticism I realize that it is not a great movie. There were lots of reasons for the holes in the story line and lack of character development. Probably most notably Brian Singer pulling out late in the project. But I have refused to let other people's criticism change my initial enjoyment of the movie. It is really my hope that someone will take Wolverine and remake it in the way the Batman series has been.
As far as Star Trek is concerned, it was a much better movie. It all comes down to writing. The writers were just much better than those who worked on Wolverine. It was a well written story with plenty of action to make it a summer hit.
I am glad I saw both movies. I have always been a fan of Star Trek and Wolverine. Granted, a much bigger fan of Wolverine than Star Trek. The bottom line for me was I enjoyed both movies for different reasons. Snikt! Bub
